'Life is beautiful'

'Life is Beautiful' - These are the last words of Don Vito Corleone, in the book. (Now, don't ask me what book it is). As per the book, the Don dies in his bed, murmuring 'Life is Beautiful'. Then Michael contemplates 'If somebody can die with those words, then that was a life well lived' (Well, something like that). But this piece was missing in the movie. The Godfather dies in a garden without uttering a word.

I was puzzled the first time couple of times I saw the movie. How can they ignore those famous last words in the movie? After a few more runs, I realized. Coppola has decided not to let the Don say that his life was beautiful, but to show it in full flow. Those words were all over the scene where the Don dies. The Don dies when happily playing with his grand-child in the garden amongst the plants he nurtured. What better way to die? What better way to say 'Life is beautiful'?

If u think the Don's life was beautiful think again...Don died a satisfied man ... coz he knew that his empire was under the able hands of Mike...But never can a life like that be beautiful... They cut his little boy Sonny to pieces, he wants his son to be Governor Corleone, Senator Corleone and all that ... but doesnt work out... He knows his second son is invalid.. He knows Mike became GodFather not because he wanted to but because he had to... His daughter is married to an asshole... He cannot trust anyone all through his life.... He was a great man... but I wudnt say his life was beautiful.. What u said sounds sweet.but doesnt make sense...
